Day 4 of no gym! Wah! But who cares about that - care about this! My morning:
So proud of Honorable Son 1. Back in August...
he got into a massive language learning interest. Started teaching himself Chinese... and then got into learning Thai.
In October, he asked to attend the 2015 NYC Polyglot conference and made a powerful impression on some attendees - always the one to stand up and ask questions at talks, organized the Teen Polyglot dinner
and the like.
Then he told me he wanted to compete in the Add 1 Challenge, where one learned language proficiency in 90 days.
He hired a Thai
language tutor, got himself up at 5am on school days to continue learning, and ended up as one of the top 3 finalists.
Zoom to 3am this morning - the winner was announced, and alas, it wasn't him. I got myself up at 2:39am or so to hear the announcement as well. And afterwards, he asked to go to Starbucks (because
coffee).... our local SB opens at 5am, so I packed him into the moosemobile and we drove to the highway service area.... where that Starbucks was out of business!
Turned around, drove for the 24 hours diners which opened at 7am (!) and ended up at IHOP. Just returned home, fed the piggyMooses and here I
am.
SO SO SO very proud of him - he showed a dedication and determination many adults today lack. And when he didn't win, he congratulated the winners, wrote a beautiful essay about what he learned, and I'm just so *wow* I could simply bounce off the walls.
Well, not quite, as I'm now sleeptyping since I've been up since 2:39am! But yep - he did grand.
So nice.
And yesterday? Took Honorable Daughter 2 for her Laser Tag birdieDay party - a great time was had by all! No, I
did not participate. But it was grand fun to see the kids happy.

What happened after that is another story (suffice it to say the product went on to sell literally 100s of
copies) ...
